French Home Insurance

Obtaining French Home insurance is fast and easy. Be sure your property is adequately protected.

French home insurance refers to building and contents insurance for your French property.

Here are some key points to consider when choosing your policy:

  • Be sure that all of your property is included by your French home insurance. You will want to check things like swimming pools, outbuildings, garages and fields. For urban property or apartments that share common areas, normally you only need to be insured for your private part of the building. The owners association or "copropriété" will often have insurance to cover the common areas.
  • Be sure to take a French life insurance policy that covers the cost of rebuilding.
  • Take extra insurance for valuables such as paintings and antiques.
  • If you are planning to rent your French property for either short or long term stays, be sure you have the correct public liability coverage and perhaps coverage for accidental breakage that can often happen when renting.

Do note that a French notaire will not let you complete your French property purchase until a French home insurance policy is in place. This does not usually apply to French leasebacks as the management company often provides the policy while the property is under management. France Home Finance can put a French home insurance policy in place within 1 to 2 working days in most cases. Request your free quote today:
