"We decided that we needed to supplement our income in the short term with some kind of borrowing. A key point was to have no conditions regarding the use of the funds. We would use the equity in the house as collateral. We went to the bank to see about a loan, but they were inflexible, needed quotes etc to support the application, and even then we did not qualify against their criteria.

At this stage I realised that we needed experienced help as we were not going to be able to do this for ourselves. So we decided to use the services of a mortgage broker to help us. I wrote to some mortgage brokers and they advised what was required and the process. With the exception of France Home Finance the other brokers were overly bureaucratic, lacked flexibility, charges were higher, timing was long and they could not offer the range of products that we were looking for, like "Interest Only".   • Out task was made incredible simple, all we had to do was send some documents, sign some papers and they did the rest.
  • There are many rules and regulations that are potential stoppers to borrowing money in France, but France Home Finance were able to advise us and steer us around some of these otherwise immovable objects.
  • All the French legal documents were translated into English and they spoke both English and French.
  • Overall they made the whole process much easier than I had anticipated.
  • France Home Finance even negotiated a rate reduction after the bank had made an offer at a higher rate. Now that's incredible!
